This was great daddy-daughter time. We talked, we sang songs from Frozen, we prayed together, ate snacks when we needed, and just plain had a good time.
The ride is pretty straight forward. It took us about three hours with potty and snack breaks. The best reflection I can make on the ride actually came from my daughter: "daddy it's not very pretty." The landscape along the San Gabriel River really isn't pretty. There was one point where there was quite a bit of water and people were fishing as we passed the 10 fwy but otherwise the landscape was that of an industrial wasteland. We saw a lot of homeless people who pitch up tents in the basin and live out their existence there.
The ride became an accomplishment for us due to it's length. We did quite well until we had about 18 miles to go and then we began to feel the offshore breeze. This breeze intensified when we have 8 miles to go and we were riding into the wind the rest of the way. It became slow going and our legs were tired. BUT, we did make it to the end and enjoyed a well deserved lunch in Old Town Seal Beach.
