Doceri is a free iPad app and a now trial-based app for the desktop. I've been a Doceri user for 1 1/2 years and cannot say enough good things about this. Doceri is a whiteboard app. When I began using it, I departed from the traditional whiteboard as well as whiteboard markers. The change has been well worth it.
Doceri allows the user to use the iPad as the whiteboard. The app alone is sufficient if you want to share your screen out through Airplay or your iPad is connected directly to a projector. The desktop software is available for $30 and is worth every penny. It allows you to connect to your desktop and remotely control your desktop through the iPad. I've found this extremely useful when giving presentations and I walk around the classroom or lecture area with my iPad.
The whiteboard software itself has the normal functions we'd expect from whiteboard software: pen, marker, highlighter, color, background type and color. There is no text tool. I've not found this an issue because I use the app as a true whiteboard tool. There are some more advanced features for presentation building. These tools allow the user to set stop points for a presentation so that you can focus on certain areas of text on a particular slide and then move onto the next sections.
The other features I like are being able to record my presentations which I then post on youTube. I especially like the Google Drive function. My students now use Doceri to take notes in class and then turn them into the Google Drive folder for me to gred
